Professor Lucilla Poston
is Head of the Department Women and Children’s Health within the School of Life Course Sciences at Kings College London (KCL), UK and holds the Tommy’s Charity Chair of Maternal and Fetal Health. She directs a multidisciplinary team of health professionals based at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals. The research aims to improve the health of women and their children by better understanding of the processes which lead to complications in pregnancy through a programme of laboratory based science, clinical trials and optimisation of care pathways. Professor Poston’s own team focuses on maternal obesity and gestational diabetes and the longer term consequences for the child. Professor Poston is an honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), a National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Senior Investigator and a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences.
