Pernilla Dahm Kähler
graduated from the University of Gothenburg in 1990 after studies in Lund and Gothenburg. After becoming a specialist in gynecology in 1999 she started, as the first Swedish, a subspecialty program in Gyne-Oncology surgery and became certified in 2005. In 2006 she defended her PhD thesis: The Ovulatory process – Studies in the human and the rabbit with professor Mats Brännström as supervisor. Since 2009 she is the Head of the Gyne-Oncology surgery division at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Göteborg, Sweden. She has been working with optimizing gynaecological cancer surgery locally, regionally and nationally as board member; in the regional referral group in the western Swedish health region for gynaecological cancer, in the surgery group in the Nordic Society of Gynecological Oncology (NSGO), in the Swedish quality register for gynecological cancer (SQRGC), in the National council group concerning ovarian cancer and she is the national registry holder for ovarian cancer.
Pernilla Dahm Kähler has been involved in the Uterus Transplantation (UTx) project in Göteborg since the start in 2000 and has been working closely with prof. Mats Brännström with the surgical part in all larger animal studies, all human studies and the ongoing UTx project as a senior surgeon both with the donors and recipients and is a senior key member of the successful team resulting in the world´s first healthy babies after uterus transplantation.
