Anne GOMPEL, MD, PhD
Professor “Classe Exceptionnelle 2ème echelon” of Reproductive Endocrinology and Gynecology, Université Paris Descartes, ex-Head of the Gynecology Endocrinology at Port Royal Cochin Hospital in Paris. She belongs to INSERM-UMR1124. She was trained in endocrinology, medical gynecology and received a MD from Paris University in 1981 and a PhD in 1987. She got a specialization in Endocrinology and Medical Gynecology in 1981. During all these years she has developed some basic biological research on breast cells and hormones focusing on the role of Progesterone and progestins on normal and breast cancer cells. This research was mostly conducted at INSERM. And some clinical research on Hormones and Vascular risk, Endometriosis and more recently belongs to a National « Centre de Référence » for Hereditary Angioedema (CREAK) . She also had a long activity of expert and member of the committee at the Regulatory Agencies for drugs in France, Agence française de sécurité sanitaire des produits de santé ”(AFSSAPS) and at the Transparence (HAS°).She has National Academic responsibilities in the management of the speciality of Gynecology as the General Secretary of the » National College of Professors of medical Gynecology», member of the National Conceal of Universities (CNU) and the board of the National College of Reproduction, Development and Medical reproduction. She used to be a member of the Board of Menopause international societies (EMAS,IMS) and is actually an EC of ESC. She has published extensively in the fields of menopause, contraception, and breast cancer. She is on the Editorial Board of Climacteric and Menopause international and reviewer of various international Journals.
