Dorenda van Dijken MD is a gynecologist in OLVG West Amsterdam since 1994. She is active for more than 25 years in the field of menopause and women’s health. She is the present Chair of the Dutch Menopause Society since 2015 and the present chair of the Steering group Women’s Health of the Dutch Gynecologist Association (NVOG).
She is co-author of the NVOG guideline management of menopause 2018, the guideline obesity and menopause 2022, and of the publication in the European Heart Journal in 2020:Cardiovascular health after menopause transition, pregnancy disorders, and other gynaecologic conditions: a consensus document from European cardiologists, gynaecologists, and endocrinologists
She set up the first multidisciplinary outclinic for complex menopause problems in the Netherlands in 2020.
Together with a cardiologist she wrote a book for women: Heart & Hormones. Another book, together with a psychiatrist and a sexuologist/psychologist: “Brain, Hormones and Sex” is in progress
Her mission is to gain more attention for women with severe menopausal complaints and more awareness in women about their risk factors and future health. She is in favor of HRT for women with severe complaints and wants to lift the taboo about HRT in the Netherlands.
