Yvonne Louwers works as a gynecologist in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility in the Erasmus MC University hospital. She studied medicine in Rotterdam the Netherlands. She obtained her PhD in 2014, ‘PCOS: from phenotype to genotype’. She has a special interest in the care for women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), and has developed a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic.
Her research has focused on ovarian ageing , especially fundamental effects that premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) may have on quality of life and long-term health risks, as well as on the genetic basis of these diseases. She is member of the international PCOS guideline group as well the Center of Research Excellence (WHIRL) Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
