Emeritus Professor of Reproductive Medicine, Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam The Netherlands.
Professor Joop S.E. Laven is emeritus professor and past head of the division Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility of Erasmus University Medical Center. He studied medicine at the University of Utrecht and did his PhD there in 1991. From that year on till 1997 he was trained and board certified in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Nijmegen. In 2000 he became a certified fellow and subspecialist Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Recently he was granted a fellowship ad eundum of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
He has a longstanding clinical career in reproductive endocrinology and infertility care in one of the largest REI clinics in Europe being Erasmus MC. For many years he has a particular research interest in the genetics reproductive ageing with particular interest in the extremes of the population representing POI and PMOS.
He is the immediate past president of the Androgen Excess and PMCOS society and is a honorary fellow of the Indian PMOS society. He is a visiting professor at the Universities of Shandong, China and Adelaide, Australia. He is one of the chairmen of the international guideline group for PMOS within the CRE-WHiRL Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
