
Austin Ugwumadu Ph.D., FRCOG
Austin is Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, & former Director of Women’s Services at St George’s University Hospitals London. His clinical & research interests include intrapartum fetal monitoring, hypoxia-inflammation interactions, fetal brain injury, mid-trimester loss, & extreme preterm birth. For 10 years (2007 – 2017) Austin was Scientific editor for British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Global Library of Women’s Health (Infections Section), served on WHO guidelines development group, & was President of the European Society for Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (UK). He is a member of the British Association of the British Maternal & Fetal Medicine Society, and belongs to international organisations dedicated to improving intrapartum fetal monitoring including the FIGO Expert Group on Fetal Monitoring, Intrapartum Fetal Monitoring Group (of European Association of Perinatal Medicine), Fetal & Neonatal Physiological Society (FNPS), and Fetal Signal Processing & Monitoring Group (SPaM)..
