Julia Binder is the Head of Fetal Medicine at the Department of Obstetrics and fetomaternal Medicine as well as the Head of the Preeclampsia Research Group at the Medical University of Vienna. She graduated at the Medical University of Vienna in 2010 and started her training at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of Vienna. Alongside her training she finished her PhD in Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Medical University of Vienna. Furthermore, Julia completed a one-year fellowship in Fetal Medicine at the Fetal Medicine Unit at St George’s Hospital, University of London in 2017 as well as a three year Fellowship in fetomaternal Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, accredited by the EBCOG, in 2020. In May 2021 Julia habilitated with the topic ‘Angiogenic markers and maternal hemodynamic function in women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy’, achieving the title ‘Privatdozentin‘ with the license to teach at the Medical University of Vienna.
In 2023 she became Ap. Professor at the Medical University of Vienna.
Her main fields of research and interest include hypertensive disorders of pregnancy with a special focus on maternal cardiovascular system, fetal growth restriction, fetal neurosonography and fetal echocardiography.
Julia has received a grant from the ERA- CVD network for early carrier scientists, for her collaborative project- Maternal hemodynamics in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy- a human and animal model under antihypertensive therapy- HyperDiP on which she is currently working on.
