Shai Carmi is an associate professor at the Hebrew University School of Public Health. His training is in statistical physics and population genetics, and his current research focuses on statistical methods in genetics. Specific areas of study include theoretical population genetics, ancient DNA, genetic genealogy, genome-wide association studies, polygenic risk scores, pre-conception genetic testing, and pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT). His work on PGT includes the development of embryo genotyping methods and the evaluation of PGT for polygenic (complex) diseases and traits.
