<strong)PRESENT POSITION: Vincenzo Stanghellini is Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences at the University of Bologna, Chair of Internal Medicine in the Department Digestive System of the St. Orsola University Hospital of Bologna, Director of the Subspecialty School in Internal Medicine of the University of Bologna.
EXPERIENCE: Research Fellow (1981-1983) and Visiting Professor (1983-1985) at the Gastrointestinal Unit of the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.
RESEARCH INTEREST: Leading a successful group of investigators, with main research focus on pathophysiology of functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, diagnosis and treatment of functional digestive syndromes.
AWARDS and HONORS: Master Award for Sustained Achievement in Digestive Sciences of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) (2009). Lifetime Achievement Award of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM) (2019).
PUBLICATIONS: over 340 papers on peer review journals (H-Index Scopus 64).
