Bart C.J.M. Fauser, MD, PhD, FRCOG
, is Emeritus Professor of Reproductive Medicine at the University of Utrecht and the University Medical Center Utrecht, The Netherlands. He is the former Head of the Department for Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecology and Chair of the Division of Woman & Baby at the University Medical Center, Utrecht. Professor Fauser is also a member of the board of the Dutch Medical research Counsel (ZonMW), Editor in Chief of Reproductive Biomedicine Online, and PAST
chair of the World Health Organisation (WHO) steering committee for infertility guidelines, and visiting professor at the London Women’s Clinic, London, UK.Professor Fauser previously held posts as visiting professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, California, USA; Free University, Brussels, Belgium; University of Siena, Italy; University of Southampton, United Kingdom; and the University of Adelaide, Australia. In addition, he held the following positions: Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar, University of California, San Diego, California, USA (1987–1988); Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology and Director of Center of Reproductive Medicine, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (1996–2003), and Editor-in-Chief for Human Reproduction Update (2001–2007),
His major research interests include the pathophysiology of human ovarian function. He has published over 440 peer-reviewed articles, with a Hirsch factor of 100. He has served on many international editorial boards, has been active in many international societies, acted as referee for all major journals and his work has been widely covered in the national and international lay press.
