Micheline Misrahi
Professor Micheline Misrahi is Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Paris-Saclay Faculty of Medicine in France.
She cloned the human progesterone receptor for the first time and established the first structure of the LH receptor deduced from cloned cDNA.
Her main area of research has focused on the molecular mechanisms of action of Progesterone, LH, FSH and TSH receptors and their involvement in human diseases.
She discovered genetic causes of infertility.
She has been a leader in the field of genetics of infertility and created the first genetics laboratory using high-throughput sequencing technology to analyze the genes involved in female and/or male infertility in France. This Laboratory has become the National Reference Laboratory for the Genetics of Infertility in France (2021).
She created the first Doctoral School in Endocrinology and Reproduction in France and is Director of the National University Diploma in Genetics and Reproduction. She was Director of a Research Unit at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research-INSERM: Receptors, Signaling and Reproductive and Thyroid Pathophysiology. She has 10,500 citations and has an H index of 53. She was a member of the INSERM Scientific Council. She is a member of the Advisory Board of EMBO Mol Med and was Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences. She is member of the ESHRE POI guidelines group. She is also involved in attracting young women to science.
She is a member of the Academia Europaea and the European Academy of Sciences.
